Using a Private IPv4 Proxy on Android Phones and Emulators
Updated:
Android proxy setup starts in the Wi-Fi network menu: choose Manual, type the IP and port, and the browser will route through it. The catch is that this screen has no login fields and only covers Wi-Fi, so for apps, credentials and 4G/5G you need a local tunnel app instead. This guide shows both routes, plus an ADB shortcut for emulators.
Wi-Fi > Modify network > Advanced > Proxy: Manual (ip:port)Pick a route before you touch Settings
Your ProxyV4 proxy arrives as one ip:port:user:pass line using HTTP(S) with a username and password. How much of the phone that line covers depends on where you put it. Use this table to decide:
| Route | Needs root | Where the login goes | What gets proxied |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi network → Proxy: Manual | No | Typed into a browser sign-in sheet; many native apps cannot show one | Chrome and WebView apps, on that one Wi-Fi network |
| Local VPN tunnel app (Super Proxy, Tun2TAP) | No | Stored in the app's proxy profile | Every app, on Wi-Fi and on mobile data |
| Root tools (ProxyDroid, Redsocks) | Yes, Magisk or similar | Applied by iptables redirection | The whole system or chosen app UIDs |
Four limits of the built-in Wi-Fi proxy
- It belongs to a single Wi-Fi network. Join a different network and you are back on a direct connection until you repeat the setup there.
- Cellular data has no proxy option at all, so anything sent over 4G or 5G skips it.
- It is advisory. Browsers honour it, but apps with their own network code, some games and call features can connect directly.
- A running VPN app takes precedence over it, so pause other VPNs while you test.
Emulators: the ADB shortcut
LDPlayer, Nox, MuMu, BlueStacks and the Android Studio emulator all accept a global proxy over ADB. It sets host and port only, so the login question is the same as for Wi-Fi. Keep the reset command handy, because a bad value leaves the emulator offline.
bash
# Point the whole emulator at the proxy
adb shell settings put global http_proxy IP:PORT
# Undo it (some emulators need a restart afterwards)
adb shell settings put global http_proxy :0
adb shell settings delete global http_proxy
Keep the device story consistent
A clean IP is only half of how apps judge a session. If you run several accounts in emulators, set each instance's time zone, language and GPS position to the country of its proxy, for example a Vietnam IPv4 proxy for a Shopee seller account. On a real phone, switch off Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning in Location settings, since nearby access points reveal where the handset actually is.
For more than a few accounts, a desktop antidetect browser such as GoLogin is usually easier to keep tidy than a drawer of phones.
Check that it worked
Turn mobile data off, stay on the Wi-Fi network you configured, and open My IP in Chrome. You should see the proxy address and its country, not your carrier or home ISP. For an app that does not show its IP, look at the login history inside the account instead.
When Android will not connect
- Pages stop loading the moment you save: usually a mistyped host or port, or an order that has expired. Copy the values again from Orders in the dashboard. More causes on the connection failed page.
- Chrome asks for the login again and again: the username or password is wrong. Phone keyboards often capitalise the first letter or add a trailing space. See 407 Proxy Authentication Required.
- An app shows a vague network error: it needs a proxy login it cannot request. Move that app to a tunnel app profile.
- My IP still shows the carrier address: you are on mobile data, or another VPN is active.
- The country looks wrong: test the same line on a computer with the proxy checker; if it is still off, open a ticket.
Step by step
- 1
Open the Wi-Fi network's advanced options
Go to Settings → Network & internet → Internet (Wi-Fi on some phones), tap the gear next to the connected network, tap the pencil (Edit) icon and expand Advanced options.
- 2
Set Proxy to Manual
Change Proxy to Manual, put the proxy IP in Proxy hostname and the port in Proxy port, then save.
- 3
Sign in from Chrome
Open Chrome and load https://proxyv4.com/tools/proxy-checker. When the sign-in sheet appears, enter the proxy username and password from your order.
- 4
For apps and mobile data, add a tunnel profile
Install a local VPN proxy app such as Super Proxy from Google Play, tap Add Proxy, choose HTTP, fill in server IP, port, username and password, then tap Save and Start and accept Android's VPN connection request.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I enter the proxy username and password on Android?
Not in Wi-Fi settings, which only take hostname and port. Chrome asks for the login when it opens a page. For native apps, store the credentials in a no-root tunnel app such as Super Proxy, which adds them to every request.
Can an Android proxy work on 4G or 5G?
Not with the built-in setting, which is tied to Wi-Fi. A local VPN proxy app routes both Wi-Fi and cellular traffic through your HTTP(S) proxy.
My emulator has no internet after setting http_proxy over ADB. How do I fix it?
Clear it with adb shell settings put global http_proxy :0, then adb shell settings delete global http_proxy, and restart the emulator instance.
Does the proxy survive a phone restart?
Yes. It stays saved on that Wi-Fi network until you remove it or switch networks. Once the order expires the proxy stops answering, so renew it to keep the same IP.
Why do TikTok or games ignore the Wi-Fi proxy?
Some apps open their own connections and do not consult the system proxy setting. Route them through a tunnel app, then confirm the IP from inside the account's login history.
One private IPv4 per phone or emulator
Each address is rented to one customer only, with unlimited bandwidth, and keeps the same IP when you renew. Seven countries to choose from.
