One static IP per Kameleo profile, whether you click or code
Updated:
Kameleo proxy setup depends on how you drive the profile. In the desktop app it is the Connection tab with type HTTP and Authentication switched on; for phones it is the same profile bridged to the Kameleo Mobile app; in scripts it is a single call on the Local API profile builder. All three take the same ProxyV4 credentials, split from one ip:port:user:pass line.
ip:port:user:passRoute 1: Kameleo Desktop
Create a profile, choose the base device and browser core (Chroma or Junglefox), then move to Connection. Set the connection type to HTTP, type the ip into Host and the port into Port, and turn Authentication on to reveal the username and password boxes. Kameleo then answers the proxy's 407 login challenge for you on every request.
Leave Timezone and WebRTC on automatic. After Test Proxy succeeds, Kameleo fills both from the proxy's location, so the browser clock and the WebRTC public address agree with the IP.
Route 2: Kameleo Mobile
Mobile profiles run on a phone with the Kameleo Android app, bridged to Kameleo Desktop over your local Wi-Fi. The desktop side sends the phone's traffic through the profile's HTTP proxy, so you configure the proxy once on the desktop profile, not on the phone.
Phone and PC must sit on the same local Wi-Fi subnet. If the app will not connect while a proxy is enabled, first confirm that Test Proxy passes on the desktop; a phone cannot get through a proxy the desktop itself cannot reach.
Route 3: the Local API
For Playwright or Selenium work, KameleoLocalApiClient in Python or Node.js creates profiles with the proxy already attached. Pass the HTTP connection type and a server object built from your line, for example .set_proxy('http', Server(host='IP', port=PORT, id='USER', secret='PASS')) on the profile builder, before calling create_profile().
In other words: host takes the IP, id the username and secret the password. Our Playwright and Selenium guides cover proxy use when you drive a browser without Kameleo.
Which address type for which job
| Kameleo use | Suggested proxy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Logged-in marketplace or social accounts | US static ISP or Vietnam static ISP | Addresses registered to consumer ISPs, kept the same on renewal |
| Automated collection through the Local API | US private IPv4 | Dedicated datacenter IP with unlimited bandwidth |
| Mobile profiles | Static ISP in the account's market | The phone's traffic leaves through the desktop profile's proxy, so the same rule applies |
Keeping the IP after the session
- Save the profile after the first start. Exported
.kameleoarchives keep the proxy, so a restored profile returns on the same IP. - Renew before expiry; renewal keeps the address, so saved profiles keep working without edits.
- Verify each new profile with My IP and the WebRTC leak test before logging in.
- If Test Proxy fails, run the line through the proxy checker to see whether the credentials or the connection are at fault.
Step by step
- 1
New profile
In Kameleo choose New Profile, then pick the base device and browser core.
- 2
HTTP with Authentication
On Connection select HTTP, fill Host and Port, switch Authentication on and enter the ProxyV4 username and password.
- 3
Test Proxy
Press Test Proxy to confirm the connection and fill the location settings.
- 4
Start and save
Click Start Browser and save the profile so later sessions use the same static IP.
Frequently asked questions
How do I give a proxy to Kameleo's Python SDK?
Call .set_proxy('http', Server(host='IP', port=PORT, id='USER', secret='PASS')) on the profile builder, then create_profile().
Kameleo Mobile will not connect with a proxy on. Why?
The phone and the PC must be on the same local Wi-Fi subnet, and Test Proxy must pass in Kameleo Desktop first.
Static ISP or private IPv4 with Kameleo?
Static ISP for sensitive logins, private IPv4 for automated scraping. Both are single-tenant and keep their IP while active.
Do I need the proxy in my script if the Kameleo profile already has one?
No. A profile started through the Local API uses the proxy stored on it.
HTTP credentials for every Kameleo route
