Look up an IP: who owns it, where it is, and what kind of network
Updated:
This IP lookup shows the ASN, ISP, organisation, location and timezone behind any IPv4, IPv6 address or hostname you enter above. Its most useful answer for proxy users is the network type: does the address belong to a hosting datacenter or to a consumer internet provider? Platforms such as TikTok Shop, Facebook Ads, Shopee, Amazon and Etsy weigh that difference, so check it before you sign in.

Why the ASN matters more than the IP itself
Every block of public addresses is registered to an Autonomous System Number through a regional registry such as ARIN, RIPE or APNIC. Fraud systems do not have to guess whether an address is a proxy. They look up the ASN in IP intelligence databases such as MaxMind GeoIP2, IPinfo, IP2Location or Spur, which record what kind of network it is.
That is why two addresses in the same city can be treated very differently. One is announced by a home broadband provider; the other by a cloud host.
| Network type | Example networks | How platforms tend to see it | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Residential or fixed-line ISP | VNPT, Viettel, FPT, Comcast, AT&T, Verizon | Highest trust: a consumer provider | TikTok Shop, Facebook Ads, Shopee, Etsy, banking |
| Datacenter or hosting | AWS, DigitalOcean, Vultr, Choopa, Hetzner, OVH | Medium to low: a server network | Scraping, SERP tracking, automation, gaming |
| Mobile carrier (CGNAT) | T-Mobile, Viettel Mobile, Vodafone 4G/5G | High: many users share carrier NAT | Mobile app testing, high-churn social apps |
Fields to read in the result
- ASN and organisation. If the platform you work on challenges cloud ranges, these should name a consumer broadband provider.
- Country, region and timezone. Antidetect browsers such as GenLogin, GoLogin and AdsPower set
Intl.DateTimeFormatfrom the IP's timezone. Make sure the location matches the market of the store or account. - Network type. A Datacenter / Hosting result is normal for private IPv4 proxies; a residential or carrier result is what static ISP proxies are for.
- IPv4 or IPv6. Older sites and some mobile game servers only accept IPv4.
Lookups that disagree with each other
Different lookup sites sometimes put the same IP in different cities. Country data comes from registry records and rarely varies; city data depends on when each geolocation vendor last refreshed. If the country itself looks wrong for a proxy you bought, open a support ticket. To check reputation rather than ownership, follow up with the IP blacklist check.
Step by step
- 1
Enter an address or hostname
Type a public IPv4, IPv6 or a domain into the box, or keep the default to see your current connection.
- 2
Check the network type
See whether the result reads Residential / ISP or Datacenter / Hosting.
- 3
Compare location with your profile
Match country and timezone with the settings of the antidetect browser profile that will use the IP.
- 4
Choose the right product
If the IP shows a hosting ASN and your seller or ad accounts need a consumer ISP, move to a ProxyV4 static ISP proxy.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my proxy marked Datacenter / Hosting?
Standard IPv4 proxies run in server facilities, so their ASN is registered to a hosting provider. For an address registered to a consumer provider such as VNPT, Viettel, FPT or a US broadband ISP, choose a static residential ISP proxy.
Why do lookup sites show different cities for one IP?
City-level data depends on how recently each geolocation vendor (MaxMind, IP2Location, DB-IP and others) updated its records. Country-level data from the registries is far more consistent.
Does my browser contact third-party trackers during a lookup?
No. Lookups are resolved on the ProxyV4 server with caching, and your browser does not load outside tracking scripts.
Can I check my own connection?
Yes. Leave the field on its default to inspect the IP you are browsing from, or open my IP for a simpler view.
Need a consumer ISP ASN?
ProxyV4 static residential ISP proxies in Vietnam and the United States are registered to consumer providers and assigned to one customer each.
