Building a rank-tracking setup that reports honest local positions

SERP tracking proxies give your rank checker a fixed vantage point inside each market you report on. Google, Naver, Yahoo Japan and Cốc Cốc localize results, so a check from your own office describes only your own location. With a private IP in the target country, a position change in your report reflects a real ranking change, not a change in where the query came from.
When you need proxies for rank checks
A handful of keywords in your home market can be checked by hand. The need appears when you track hundreds of terms, several countries, or clients in markets you are not in. Search engines then do two things that spoil the data: they show your location's results, and they slow down or challenge an address that sends many automated queries.
Agencies reporting for international clients, in-house teams watching a brand across regions, affiliate publishers tracking competitors and developers self-hosting a rank tracker all hit this point.
Plan the pool market by market
Decide the markets first, then volume. A Vietnamese address can never show an honest US result, so a report covering two countries needs addresses in both, even if one has only a few keywords. Within a market, a static address means today's check comes from the same place as yesterday's.

Pacing: fewer queries per IP, more IPs
Captchas are a rate signal. Rather than pushing one address hard, spread the keyword list over several addresses in the same country and add random gaps between searches. Start with a few addresses per market, watch the captcha rate, and add more where it climbs. Because each address is single-tenant, nobody else's traffic eats into its budget, and bandwidth is unmetered, so full-page snapshots cost nothing extra.
Private IPv4 is usually enough at moderate volumes. If a market keeps challenging you even at a slow pace, try static ISP addresses in the US or Vietnam.
Wiring it into your tool
- Export the list from Orders; each line is
ip:port:user:pass. Add it to the tracker's proxy settings as HTTP. - Tag each address with its country so US keywords only ever use US addresses.
- For manual spot checks, use a clean browser profile with the proxy set, as in the Chrome guide, and stay signed out of Google.
- When new addresses arrive, confirm their location with IP lookup and check them against the IP blacklist check.

- All queries squeezed through one or two addresses

Why does my client see a different ranking from my report?
Location, language, device and personalization all change results. Checking signed out, from an address in the client's country, gets much closer to what local searchers see.
Can I track rankings city by city?
Addresses are chosen by country. For city-level views, combine a country address with the location settings that many rank trackers provide.
Which rank trackers work with these proxies?
Any tool that accepts HTTP proxies with username and password authentication. SOCKS5 is not offered.
How many IPs per country should I start with?
A few. Run your normal schedule, watch for captchas, and add addresses in the markets that show them. Price per IP drops as you buy more.
Do datacenter addresses get blocked by Google?
At moderate, well-paced volumes they generally work. Frequent captchas at low rates are the sign to move that market to static ISP.
