Using FoxyProxy to send chosen sites through a private IPv4 address
Updated:
FoxyProxy setup takes four fields in Options -> Proxies -> Add: type HTTP, hostname, port, and the username and password from your ip:port:user:pass line. The extension then lets you flip the whole browser onto one proxy from the toolbar, or leave it on patterns so only the sites you list go through a given country.
Type: HTTP | Hostname: ip | Port: port | Username / PasswordWhere FoxyProxy fits
FoxyProxy works in Firefox and Chrome and is ready for Manifest V3. It changes the route for that one browser and nothing else on the computer, which makes it the lightest way to look at a site from another country: checking US search results, a UK storefront, or a Vietnamese marketplace as a local sees it.
It is not an antidetect browser. Cookies and the browser fingerprint stay the same whichever proxy is active, so for separate accounts on the same platform you still want separate browser profiles or a tool such as AdsPower.
The four values FoxyProxy needs
| Field | Enter | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Title and Color | A label like US-ISP and a colour | The colour shows on the toolbar badge, so you can see which country is active |
| Type | HTTP | Carries both http:// and https:// sites through ProxyV4 |
| Hostname / Port | The ip and port parts | Taken from your ip:port:user:pass line |
| Username / Password | The user and pass parts | FoxyProxy answers the proxy login in the background, so no pop-up appears |
Two ways to switch
By title. Click the toolbar icon and choose the proxy's name. Every tab now leaves through that IP until you pick something else. This is the mode to use when a whole session should come from one address.
By pattern. Add wildcard rules to a proxy's Included Patterns, then select Proxy by Patterns from the toolbar. For instance, *://*.amazon.com/* can point at a US proxy while *://*.shopee.vn/* points at a Vietnam proxy; every other site stays on your normal connection.
Loading a whole order at once
If you bought several IPs, skip the form. Under Import -> Import Proxy List paste the lines from your dashboard, one ip:port:user:pass per row, and FoxyProxy creates an entry for each. Give them titles and colours afterwards so the toolbar stays readable.
Check the result, not the setting
- With the proxy selected, open My IP. It should show the proxy address and the country you bought.
- Run the WebRTC leak test. An extension proxy does not always control WebRTC, so this tells you whether your own address is still visible to pages.
- IP did not change after saving? The extension is still on
Disable; choose the proxy from the toolbar icon. - Login prompt keeps returning, or pages fail? Test the line in the proxy checker;

Frequently asked questions
I saved the proxy in FoxyProxy but my IP is the same. Why?
Saving only adds the entry. FoxyProxy stays on Disable until you click the toolbar icon and pick the proxy by name or switch to Proxy by Patterns.
FoxyProxy type: HTTP or HTTPS?
HTTP. FoxyProxy's HTTP type sends https:// sites through a standard CONNECT tunnel, which is how our proxies work.
Can FoxyProxy import 20 proxies at once?
Yes. In Options open Import, choose Import Proxy List and paste one ip:port:user:pass line per row.
Does FoxyProxy change the IP for other programs?
No. Only that browser's traffic follows FoxyProxy. For desktop apps without proxy settings, use Proxifier.
